THIS WEEK'S INTERVIEW WITH FR GERARD CONDON ON POPE FRANCIS' APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION TO YOUNG

Earlier this year, Pope Francis published a document entitled 'Christus Vivit...Christ is Alive' - an Apostolic Exhortation to Young people and to the Entire People of God. This document followed on a synod earlier on vocational discernment of young people and with young people. The document has been widely acclaimed for its clarity and intense hope that it offers young people of the Church and the world. The chapters sketch out this hope by exploring 'What hope does the Word of God has to say about young people?' (Chapter 1); 'Jesus, ever young' (Chapter 2); 'You are the 'Now' of God' (Chapter 3); 'A great message for all young people' (Chapter 4); 'Path of Youth' (Chapter 5); 'Young people with roots' (Chapter 6); 'Youth Ministry' (Chapter 7); 'Vocation' (Chapter 8); 'Discernment' (Chapter 9).

Earlier this year, I interviewed Fr Gerard Condon from Killavullen in Cork who is Diocesan Advisor for Secondary Schools in the diocese of Cloyne. He is also former Spiritual Director of the Pontifical Irish College in Rome. Here Fr Gerard reflects on the hope that Pope Francis is offering to young people at a time when we need hope.
