Stand by Christians who suffer persecution, torture, and death for the sake of their faith. From 25th November until 1st December, the charity organisation 'Aid to the Church in Need' have organised a 'Week of Witness' in solidarity with persecuted Christians around the world. Did you know that:
80% of all acts of religious persecution are committed against Christians;
245 million Christians are facing extreme persecution for their faith;
Christians in more than 95 countries face persecution for their faith everyday.
Here at St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy, we are proud to participate in the 'Week of Witness'. To mark the event, the Cathedral will be illuminated by a red light for the evenings of that week. We will also celebrate a special Mass of prayerful solidarity with all our brothers and sisters on what is being called 'Red Wednesday', 27th November at 10am. All are welcome.
In this short video, Michael Kinsella (Aid to Church in Need National Director) invites people to stand in solidarity with the persecuted and suffering Church during the Week of Witness (25 Nov - 1 Dec).
