THIS WEEK'S INTERVIEW WITH MR CAMERON CORTENS

During the summer, I spent a week in the city of South Bend Indiana in the United States. I spent 10 weeks there as a seminarian in 1995, as did many seminarians of the diocese of Ferns during the '90's and early part of the new millennium.

During my stay, I caught up Cameron Cortens, a seminarian of the Congregation of Holy Cross who is based at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend.

A number of years ago, Cameron spent a year in Ireland, living in the parish of Clonard in Wexford and based in the Teach Brid community. During that time, Cameron made a great contribution to the parish and put his gifts to use to build up the local community. After he returned to America, Cameron discerned a vocation to the priesthood - that God was calling him to serve as a priest. He entered the Congregation of Holy Cross and is now just a few years away from ordination.

Here we speak to Cameron about his time in Ireland and how he found it as an experience that shaped him and his life.
