MASS READINGS AND REFLECTION FOR MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK - MONDAY 6TH APRIL 2020

On this Monday of holy week, we hear the story of Jesus' last visit to the home of his friends Martha, Mary and Lazarus. There, shortly before his death, Mary did something extravagant and spontaneous to express her love for Jesus. She anointed his feet and wiped them with her hair. It was an act of sensuality but also charity and love. She anointed his body and his dignity that Jesus' interpreted as preparing him for his death and burial.

At this time of crisis, there are many such acts of love and service being done by so many. The Lord reminds us that for those who carry out these acts of love and mercy, they render this service not just to the people but to Christ himself. 'In so far as you did it to the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me'.
