MASS READINGS AND REFLECTION FOR TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK - 7TH APRIL 2020

The Gospel today is very poignant and dramatic. It is John's account of the Last Supper where Jesus is distressed as he shares with his apostles that one of them is about to betray him. The truth of course is that not just one of them but all of them were about to betray him, to run away. Judas was the one he meant but Jesus also predicts the denials of Peter.

This Gospel is for all of us for it speaks about our failure and lack of fidelity to Jesus and our faith in him. But as the story unfolds, the real question is not who fails but what we do when we fail. Can we be like Peter and turn back for mercy or will we be like Judas who could not forgive himself or allow himself to be forgiven?
