MASS READINGS AND REFLECTION FOR WEDNESDAY OF HOLY WEEK - 8TH APRIL 2020

Friends, today is traditionally known as 'Spy Wednesday' - the Wednesday of holy week when we listen to Judas' betrayal of Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Again, the story is not just about the treachery of Judas but ours too. It is about our ability and indeed times when we spied on others, seeking an opportunity to pounce, to criticise and point the finger. The irony of the story is that God, as we see with Jesus, never spies. he never watches us in this way, waiting to catch us out or to make a mistake. All he wants us to do is love by being united to his Spirit and live in his truth. This means that we are called to change and repentance as a necessary way to become the people he wants to be -to prepare us for heaven.
