Dear friends. In the first reading today, Paul and Barnabas finally realise that the Gospel message about Jesus being the Christ, was being rejected by their own people, the Jews. For them this was a great disappointment but within it they saw that God's purposes would still be fulfilled. The rejection of the Gospel would lead to it being offered to the Gentiles, that is the whole world. For the history of Christianity, this was a key moment for it began the process of evangelization and mission to the ends of the earth. It was one of the reasons why the faith reached you and me.
Do we see God's hand in every disappointment as Paul and Barnabas did? Do we wallow in sorrow or move on like they did 'fill of joy and the Holy Spirit'.
