Friends, in the first reading today, we are told that God opened up the heart of a woman named Lydia to accept the Word of God that St Paul was preaching. By the Holy Spirit, Lydia 'gets it'.
So often we hear the Scriptures but we don't get it. We so often see things and don't understand. Our minds and hearts are closed. So we pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promises in the Gospel today that we might be witnesses to the Gospel and help others to be open to God's Word and truth as Lydia was.
