MASS READINGS FOR THURSDAY 18TH JUNE 2020

Friends, in the Gospel today, Jesus teaches us how to pray with the 'Our Father'. It is a summary of the whole Gospel - namely that God is our God, not just mine or yours. He is Our Father which means we are all brothers and sisters. He is Lord of both heaven and earth and in Him, both the material and the spiritual, heaven and earth are united. We are to pray that his kingdom comes and becomes ever more real in the world today. We pray that his will be done, not ours. We ask him to provide our daily bread or the things we need to nourish us in body and spirit. We ask him to forgive us in the measure that we forgive others who sin against us. Finally we pray not to be tested or tempted beyond our limits even though testing and being tempted is how we know how deep our commitment really is.
