FOUR WAYS TO GROW THE CHURCH

Bishop Robert Barron

Bishop Barron recently addressed his diocesan family with these words:

'I simply refuse to accept the proposition that I, or any other bishop, should be presiding over the decline of our churches. By its very nature, Christianity is centrifugal, outward-tending, universal in purpose and scope. Jesus didn’t say, “Preach the Gospel to a handful of your friends,” or “Proclaim the Good News to your own culture.” Rather, he said to his disciples: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 28:18–19)'.

In the article below he suggests four ways to grow the Church. These ways transcend all cultures and can be adapted to the Irish Church situation too.
