SOCIAL ISOLATION

In every town and city, and becoming ever more apparent in country areas, people were already living with social isolation long before Corona. Many were living in houses and flats but with no connection to the neighbor next door or to their local community. Lots were going for days without ever meeting another human being. This loneliness and isolation was already the main cause of depression, suicide and psychological distress. This issue has been brought to another level as a result of Covid 19. The problem that was already there has been brought to consciousness where hopefully its danger will be better recognized and more individuals will decide to do something about it. Perhaps Covid will work like a good snowfall that breaks down barriers and gets people talking.
