INSPIRING TALK BY JOHN L. ALLEN ON THE VISIT OF POPE FRANCIS TO IRELAND

Last Thursday, 23rd August, I travelled to Dublin to Avila, the Carmelite Centre in Donnybrook. As one of the fringe events for the World Meeting of Families, 'The Irish Catholic' newspaper hosted a talk on the Pope's visit by John L. Allen jr., the American journalist and expert in Catholic affairs.

John L. Allen Jr. is the founder website Crux - a forum for the interaction of faith and culture. Before moving to The Boston Globe when Crux was established in 2014, Allen worked for 16 years in Rome as a Vatican watcher, covering news about the Holy See and the Pope. During that time he was senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter and an analyst of Vatican affairs for CNN and NPR. He is widely regarded as one of the top commentators on Catholic affairs in the United States and the world.
