Today's Gospel recalls the first encounter between the risen Lord and Mary of Magdala. Mary's life was transformed by her love of Jesus and his love for her that turned her life around. In a deeply intimate moment of recognition, Jesus calls Mary by name and at once she recognised him. Like Mary and with her, Jesus encounters us intimately and with joy. He also calls us by name and asks us not to cling to him as our personal possession but share him with everyone and with the world.
