MASS READINGS AND HOMILY FOR TUESDAY 5TH MAY 2020

Friends, in today's first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we learn how the early Church continued to expand with people who came to faith. How did they come to faith? We are told that they came to faith by being 'converted to the Lord' and 'won over to the Lord'. This phrase of being 'won over to the Lord' is striking for it implies that people were attracted to faith in Jesus. The possibility of faith for them was alluring and beautiful. It wasn't just a question of persuasion or winning over people. As the text says, it was a question of 'winning over people'.

Our hope is that in these times, we will witness to our faith in Christ in a way that will also be attractive, alluring and compelling - not by anything we might so or say but by the beauty, truth and goodness of Christ himself.
