READINGS FOR THE MASS FOR WEDNESDAY 20TH MAY 2020

Friends, in the first reading today, St Paul arrives at Athens, the great city of culture and philosophy. He might have been intimidated by his audience but instead, the proclaimed Christ with great courage and conviction. He insisted that God was not some abstract deity but rather the God who is the source of all life, the God in whom 'we live and move and have our being'.

So often we think of God as impersonal, abstract and distant. Instead, as St Paul insisted, the mystery of God in Christ is one that we are immersed into and surrounded by at every moment. May we have something of the courage of Paul to witness to God and his love today.
