Bishop Fintan Gavin, Chair of the Council for Evangelisation, Catechetics and Pastoral Renewal of the Irish Bishops’ Conference, has extended a warm invitation to people across Ireland to gather for a special celebration of Mass ahead of The Parables Tour with Father Mike Schmitz in Dublin.

The Mass will take place at St Kevin’s Church, Harrington Street, at 5.00pm on Monday, 20 July, offering an opportunity to prepare spiritually before the evening event at the National Stadium.

As Chief Celebrant, Bishop Gavin said he is looking forward to welcoming people from every diocese, especially young adults, to celebrate the Eucharist together.  “This Mass is an opportunity to gather as one Church in prayer before an evening of faith and inspiration,” he said. “Whether you are attending The Parables Tour afterwards or simply wish to join us for Mass, you are most welcome.  We hope many people, particularly young adults, will come together to celebrate our faith and experience the joy of belonging to the wider Church.”

The homily will be preached by Father Mike Schmitz, whose visit to Ireland has generated great anticipation.  The liturgy will be enriched by a choir, musicians and a variety of ministries animated by young adults from dioceses and Church movements across Ireland, reflecting the vitality and diversity of the Church’s mission.

The Mass is being hosted by the Council for Evangelisation, Catechetics and Pastoral Renewal of the Irish Bishops’ Conference as part of its commitment to supporting evangelisation and accompanying young people in their journey of faith.

No ticket to The Parables Tour is required to attend the Mass.  All are welcome, with a particular invitation extended to young adults, pilgrims and anyone wishing to begin the evening in prayer and fellowship.  Organisers encourage those attending to arrive early.
