Friends, one of the pressing issues of our time is immigration. We live in a plural and multi-cultural world in which local traditions and identities are being challenged and stretched by the arrival of many people from abroad. What is also being challenged is our attitudes towards these people who have arrived in our country. Are there limits to the numbers we ought to welcome? Are there genuine concerns about our abilities to provide care and accommodation for people fleeing from war and poverty?
