DEATH - ANOTHER STAGE OF ALIVENESS

Fr Jim Cogley

Luke tells us that ‘to God, all people are in fact alive’, That’s an astonishing truth, for it means that it’s just different stages of aliveness that is experienced as dying. What an adventure that we can look forward to. ‘The eye had not seen nor hath the ear heard what things God has prepared for those who love him’. That is probably easier to accept when you’ve had a long life. I don’t know? Much in our lives remains unfinished waiting to be completed! As we know from Psalm 90 ‘Our years are soon gone and we fly away‘. It doesn’t feel like that sometimes, it can seem more like a long slow crawl to the grave, especially when the going is rough. Even when the hours seem to drag the years still fly.
