HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT

Bishop Michael Router

For the 33rd World Day of the Sick Pope Francis asked us to reflect on the words of Saint Paul: Hope does not disappoint” (Rom 5:5) but strengthens us in times of trial.‘  In this Jubilee Year 2025, the Church invites us to become ‘pilgrims of hope,’ finding strength in our trials through the love and grace of God.

In times of illness, suffering can feel isolating, yet it offers opportunities for transformative encounters with God, for receiving His gift of hope, and for sharing His love with others.  Together, through faith and compassion, we are called to walk alongside the suffering, advocating for a healthcare system that respects human dignity from conception to natural death.

In the video below, Bishop Michael Router reflects on Pope Francis message and the need for healthcare to see the person beyond the patient in caring for people.
