NEWSLETTER INSERTS - FOR 28TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

‘God our Father, today we bring before you our brothers and sisters who struggle with challenges to their mental health, who suffer in solitude with anxiety, depression, or any other mental illness. You call them by name, with tenderness, and in You they find dignity and hope.
Forgive us for the times we have looked the other way, feeding the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses. May your Church be an open house, a safe space where everyone has a place—a community that accompanies and never excludes, that listens without judging and draws near without fear.
We pray to you, Lord, for those who care: professionals, family members, volunteers—men and women who, with patience and love, build bridges of understanding and comfort. Give them strength and compassion to sustain others. Send your Spirit upon us, that we may learn to welcome and integrate care for mental health into the life and ministry of our communities and of the whole Church, and thus become a living sign of your mercy, which never abandons and always restores'.
Pope Leo XIV's Prayer Intention for October 2026 for Those who Suffer from Mental Illness
'The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is peace.'
St Theresa of Calcutta
'I assure you, my sons and daughters, that when a Christian carries out with love the most insignificant everyday action, that action overflows with the transcendence of God. That is why I have told you repeatedly, and hammered away once and again on the idea that the Christian vocation consists of making heroic verse out of the prose of each day. Heaven and earth seem to merge, my sons and daughters, on the horizon. But where they really meet is in your hearts, when you sanctify your everyday lives'.
St Jose Maria Escriva
‘In history there is no revolution that is not a restoration...All the people in history who have really done anything with the future have had their eyes fixed upon the past’ same above'.
GK Chesterton
‘In the depths of every human heart there is light and darkness. There is desire for good and inclination to evil. The prophet Jeremiah writes ‘The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately corrupt; who can understand it’ (Jer. 17:9). The human heart is easily deceived because of the fall of Adam and Eve every one of us knows that we're made for glory and yet original sin attempts to achieve that glory apart from God, to become like God without God. And so we settled for counterfeit love. We settled for counterfeit truth beauty and goodness.’
