Last week, Mgr Billy Oliver O'Neill died in Mallow General hospital, Cork, aged 79. He was a native of Tipperary but attended St Peter's College seminary here in Wexford where he was ordained a priest in 1967 for the diocese of Savannah, Georgia. Billy Oliver was known to many priests and people here in Wexford. He often used to visit here to catch up with friends during holiday time in Ireland. He was widely respected and much loved.
On one of his last visits to Ireland, I sat down to Mgr. Billy Oliver to have a broad conversation about his life and his ministry as a priest.
