'WHY EVERYONE SHOULD BE RELIGIOUS'

The phrase 'I am not religious but I am spiritual' is commonly used by many people who no longer go to church or who perhaps have never gone to church, to describe their disconnection from institutional worship and religion, but who, at the same time, sense the movement of a deep spiritual need in their lives.
In this video interview courtesy of the 'Socrates in the City' Podcast, American author Ross Douthat argues that humanity is not divided into two groups, one who is religious, the other who is not. Rather he argues convincingly that to be human is to be religious and that all of us are seekers of meaning and truth whether we realise it or not. A fascinating discussion that challenges the so called spiritual/religious divide and why they are categories that are no so far apart as they might seem.
